John 13:1 – Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
I believe we make it too easy to give up, however, we can learn a lesson from Jesus about holding on and finishing well.
First, Jesus knew his purpose was coming to fulfillment (His time had come). Second, Jesus didn’t just coast to the finish line he kept moving forward (He loved them to the end). The point is this, Jesus passionately pursued His Fathers will and kept going until his work was completed. Knowing that we have to settle in our hearts that when things get hard we can’t just quit? We have a duty to God and to others not to get sidetracked when things get tough.
There is a finish line but it’s at the end of a race. When runners start a race there is a predetermined end in sight. They don’t have the luxury of moving the finish line when they get tired. They have to do one of two things. They can either quit or dig in a keep going until they cross the finish line.
Jesus finished well and so can you.
